Abstract
This paper deals with power quality improvement by using a combination of passive filters and UPQC in power systems. Passive filters are a common method to compensate harmonics and reactive power. However they have drawbacks such as limited band width, the effects of system impedance on compensation characteristics. UPQC is a high efficiency solution to overcome the passive filter restricts; nevertheless its operation cost is high. So in this paper combination of passive filters and UPQC is proposed to compensate voltage and. defined as a component in. The proposed scheme can compensate voltage disturbances and current harmonics at the point of common coupling on power distribution systems. Simulation results are demonstrated to show the effectiveness of proposed configuration.
