Abstract :
Fast rendering, real-time display and smooth roaming of three-dimensional terrain scenes are always problems because of wide range of seabed terrain with massive spatial data. By constructing a realistic three-dimensional seabed terrain model, seabed terrain undulation condition can be displayed visually and vividly. According to the regular grid data, the paper proposed an effective terrain dividing algorithm. Combined with view-dependent LOD technology based on Quad-tree and dynamic call of data, a 3D model of massive seabed terrain is built, and a simulation system of seabed terrain is developed with scenes real-time roaming and interactive spatial analysis. The system provides an effective platform for the production of ocean topography mapping and three-dimensional visualization of seabed terrain. What´s more, mapping efficiency of seabed terrain and utilization of DEM data are both improved.
