Abstract :
IPv6 has a good support to IP quality of service. A flow label field is defined in IPv6 header to help control IP quality of service (QoS), but how to design and allocate flow label in IPv6 forwarding router and then design framework of router is still one of key problems of IPv6 network to provide reliable service and to guarantee QoS. The paper introduced concept and characteristics of IPv6 flow label and analyzed QoS functions of IPv6. Based on this, a kind of framework of forwarding router based on IPv6 was designed. Detail functions of relative components were also defined. In addition, IPv6 packets processing flow in the router was also provided.
