Abstract
Three-dimensional (3D) surface models of human body would be the source of interactive simulation contributing to clinical practice. The surface models can be accomplished by surface reconstruction after stacking serial outlines of each structure. As the serial images, computerized tomographs (CTs) or magnetic resonance images (MRIs) are not enough to show details of structures. Recently in our laboratory for the Visible Korean, high-quality sectioned images were generated from a female cadaver pelvis. In the sectioned images, structures were delineated to produce outlined images; the outlines could be filled with black or different colors. The outlined, black-filled, and color-filled images are together designated as segmented images. We have concurrently established the effective surface reconstruction technique using the segmented images without programming. The purpose of this research was to provide information about the outlined images, black-filled images, and color-filled images, which were examined with respect to surface reconstruction. The surface models, acquired from the sectioned images of female pelvis, are hopefully used for clinical practice of gynecologists.
