  • Abstract
The effect of electric field on the activity index of Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was investigated by a combination of Ultraviolet-visible, FT-infrared and Circular Dichroism spectroscopic techniques. The result showed that in comparison with the control, electric field could increase the activity index of HRP; Based on these changes, it can be concluded that the electric field could affect charge distribution of group of the amides in the polypeyide chains of HRP and thus cause the change in the secondary structure of HRP. It would change in the structure of the porphyrin group in the heme group of HRP and lead the change in the activity index of HRP. The result of this study has important meaning to explain the biological effect of electric treatment seeds.
