  • Abstract
The method of extracting the flutter derivatives with the free vibration method of section model is simple in device and easy to implement, but in tests we found that the results are not perfect. One reason is that the model may be affected by the vortex and that at high wind speed, the signal is badly disrupted and SNR is low. Another reason is that the different forms of exciting vibration will bring the results with poor repeatability. Forced vibration method has been considered to be the most accurate method for the extraction of flutter derivatives, but because of its requirement for more complex devices, research and implementation of this method are less. In this paper, one experimental test with the forced vibration method for two kinds of bridge decks shows that the effect is good.
