Abstract :
The paper is part of current practices within the congestion management field. Within this frame, multiple issues regarding the Power Transfer Distribution Factors (PTDF) and Available Transfer Capacity (ATC) evaluation are tackled. Several approaches for PTDF computing can be found within the literature. Their important majority refers to direct current (DC) methodology. The novelty highlighted by the paper refers to PTDF computing based on alternative current (AC) power flow. It leads to better results than the ones provided by the DC approach. In the following, the authors are focusing on developing a mathematical model for ATC computing. The existing approaches are based on DC power flow computing. The contribution of the paper refers to the AC methodology. It is evaluated using a deterministic approach. The ATC capacity is also computed considering the unavailability of the transmission network. The approach is based on Monte Carlo sequential simulation. The software tool is developed in Matlab, designed for PTDF computing and ATC evaluation according to the AC methodology. The Romanian Power System is used as a case study.
