Abstract :
In this paper, three software packages that allow HVDC to be modeled are compared; namely: DigSILENT, Matlab PST (Power System Toolbox) and Matlab PSAT (Power System Analysis Toolbox). Both steady state and transient stability studies are performed using the various software packages. The simulation results are then compared. The similarities and differences between the results are discussed. The paper also looks at the modeling capabilities of the various software packages and their limitations.
