  • Abstract
    This paper studies the fractal characteristics of particles´ volume specificity of asphalt mixtures gradation visually with digital image processing technique, and analyzes the statistic self-similar fractal characteristics of particles´ gradation composition and voids distribution in mineral aggregates of asphalt mixtures, then puts forward the calculation method of fractal dimension. Test results indicate that using slit island method could describe the fractal characteristics of particles´ gradation composition quantitatively and using box counting method could describe the fractal characteristics of voids change in mineral aggregates of asphalt mixtures under the effect of loading.
