Abstract
Through culture experiments we have evaluated the effects of light intensity on the growth of Prorocentrum donghaiense. Results show that there is an exponential correlation between algal growth rate and light intensity. Light intensity have affected to the pigment of Prorocentrum donghaiense. We use high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis of phytoplankton chlorophyll a concentration. The saturating light values for Prorocentrum donghaiense cells are 250μmol photons m-2S-1. But when Prorocentrum donghaiense cells were cultured in lower light intensity especially lower 50μmol photons m-2S-1, will improved much higher chlorophyll a concentration.
