Abstract :
Because of user mobility, highly dynamic, error-prone wireless channels, the QoS control for mobile Peer-to-Peer (MP2P) streaming media has to face considerable challenges. Given to the advantages of policy management, we develop a policy-based QoS control (PBQC) architecture to provide QoS assurance dynamically and automatically in mobile network environment. And we also propose a MP2P streaming media QoS policy information model (MPSM-QPIM), which defines a standard framework to represent and build the QoS policies. Furthermore, we take the policy-based data scheduling as a case study to explain the principle of PBQC architecture, and develop two data scheduling policies according to the available bandwidth of peers. Simulation results show that the policy-based data scheduling can attain a good trade-off between the server load and other performance indices, including throughput, useless packets ratio and interruption times, by selecting a proper threshold value for the QoS policies.
