Abstract :
In the paper, the quasi-3D finite element method (FEM) and 3D FEM were both carried out to analyze the electromagnetic field of an axial field permanent magnet motor with iron core. Comparing the two results, an experience formula of the correction factor was derived. It can take account of the magnetic field end-effect of the motor. Based on the formula, the modified qusi-3D FEM results almost have no distinct difference with the 3D FEM results. And it was verified by the practical experiments. The torque analysis results proved that when the skewing pole angle is 60%, and the PM width is 2.14 times of the teeth pitch, the detent torque can be reduced effectively.
