Abstract :
This study reviewed some available FE human neck models developed by some researchers used for human neck injury biomechanics, neck responses and injury predicting. The different ways of anatomical modeling, the material properties and model validation approaches in the models are summarized and compared for better understanding the FE human neck modeling. An advanced FE human neck model developed at Hunan University was introduced and showed good biofidelity in low speed frontal, rear-end and side impact. It could be used to study the head-neck kinematics and valuable in the research on neck injury mechanisms.
