Abstract
2D barcode recognition technique and system play an important role in the industry application. It is extremely challenging to locate and recognize barcodes when the background is cluttered and the illumination is uneven. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical framework for 2D Data Matrix recognition and further introduce the 2D barcode recognition system based on the proposed method. The superiority of this framework lies in three folds: 1) it is robust to unbalancing illumination, geometric deformations and affine transform; 2) barcode region localization is performed to make the system robust to clutter background and to save computation complexity; 3) the floating DSP hardware platform guarantees the decoding accuracy and speed to attain a leading level. The large-scale experiment shows that the proposed framework can achieve high accuracy and robustness for 2D Data Matrix recognition and has been transferred into real production.
