Abstract :
Because existing transportation facilities are usually fitted to the public, these systems give suffers for the disabled, elderly, pregnant women, infants and accompanying characters, and children to the use the facilities. The platform of urban railway transit is positioned to the high level of it for passenger to get on and off fast and easily and gap is formed between vehicles and platforms depending on the fluctuations of the vehicle. This gap increases the risk of accidents for a wheelchair wheel or the passenger´s feet to fall and it is an obstacle for the disabled to move. Standing for promoting the movement right of the disabled, a related law is issued because the movement right for human being is an important condition. Relieving the gap between the vehicle and platform, and increasing the safety of all passengers including the disabled, we have developed a sliding step to apply to the advanced Electric Multiple Unit (EMU). In this paper, differing to the existing sliding step attached to platform, we describe configuration and capabilities of the vehicle attached sliding step.
