Abstract :
This paper shows an initial design proposal of a Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) operated by single-phase voltage supply. Series connected diodes are used to make the single-phase current into the two-phase current. The output torque is calculated by FEA and self starting method is considered. As a result, this machine can generate positive torque with single-phase voltage input, and it can self starting because of the light inertia and staged stator and rotor structures.
