Abstract :
These bubble homes could be the future of low-cost, environmentally-friendly housing. Binishells are created by covering a flat balloon-like bladder with reinforcing bars and wet concrete before gently inflating it to form a dome structure. The result is a highly adaptable building. The company licensing the technology claims it is perhaps "the greenest way to build ever invented". Said to be highly affordable because they use less labour and material in construction, homes are estimated to cost from ¿¿2,000 to build depending on the size.
