  • Abstract
This paper is a based on research following on from our paper, “Sustainable Supply Chains: Overview and Research Agenda” presented at SCMIS 2009. We compare and contrast three case studies conducted in Sweden and the UK over the past year. The companies comprise a Swedish dairy producer, a fast food chain and a UK potato packaging company. All three aspire to create sustainable business models to reduce carbon footprints, increase recycling and waste management, and conserve energy while at the same time maintaining profit and sustainability. The paper highlights similarities and differences within these organisations and the challenges they face to maintain competitive market positioning.
