Abstract :
Heat-Assistant Magnetic Recording (HAMR) is a promising approach for enabling large increases in storage density of hard disk drive. Under HAMR condition, the lubricant thin film on hard disk surface should have satisfied tribological property under high temperature laser irradiation condition. This paper studies the lubricant pick-up of potential and current commercial lubricant under HAMR laser irradiation conditions. Through the study, the design and development of new lubricant for HAMR application has been explored.
