Abstract
By visualizing the torque as an area enclosed by locus of magnet operating points in B-H plane, the geometrical characteristics of maximum torque area are investigated from the data given by FEA results. Two SPM (surface permanent-magnet) motors with pole to slot number ratio equal to 2P3S and 4P3S are examined. Then, a high efficient calculation algorithm of the maximum torque is proposed for the SPM motors.
