Abstract :
The front-mounted water separation propeller is a new-type energy saving propulsion device, which could be used to reduce the ship resistance through jetting high-speed water-flow by the flat spout on both sides of the hull. The paper introduced the principle of the front-mounted water separation propeller, and listed the advantage of fixing this device to the underwater vehicle. The two dimension models of the underwater vehicle with installed the front-mounted water separation propeller are established in this article, and numerical simulation is used to study the effect of front-mounted water separation propeller main parameters (such the ship hull and the jetting speed and the angle between the jet and the midship line) on the ship resistance. The calculation results show that the ship resistance could be reduced obviously through jetting water-flow and point out new direction for the maneuverability of the underwater vehicle.
