Abstract :
In this paper, the aerodynamic performances of the muffler combined with jet and impedance, the resistance-loss, are mainly investigated. The relationships between resistance-loss and structure parameters have been analyzed in detail. The resistance-loss has been analyzed based on the experiments. The conclusions show that the muffler combined with jet and impedance has advantage that is small resistance-loss lower than 1% atm. The combined muffler has good performances and consumes less power. The resistance-loss of combined muffler can be divided into three parts that are the partial-resistance-loss, the friction-resistance-loss and the pore-resistance-loss. Theoretical analysis and experiment investigations show that the resistance-loss of combined muffler is mainly the partial-resistance-loss of expansion-chamber, it is about 70% of the total and the resistance-loss of other parts is relatively smaller. It has provided reliable basis for improving the structure of combined muffler and reducing the resistance-loss.
