  • Abstract
    Datasets are the basis of database benchmarks, and they are very important to researches on database theories and applications. Datasets of moving object databases record both the space and time information of the objects. Based on the XML model, the algorithm of generating moving object datasets is designed in this paper. Object number, object types, shape changes and moving fashions can be selected in the algorithm. During the initializing and moving process of objects, collision checking is provided. For regions, a special kind of convex polygon and its generation algorithm are discussed. Two typical queries (snapshot query and trajectory query) are implemented to validate the dataset generation algorithm and the XML-based data model.
