Abstract :
This paper presents the vision of the Integral SatCom Initiative (ISI) European Technology Platform about the role that Satellite Networks can play towards a global architecture of Future Internet. The current state-of-the-art in Satellite Networks is briefly discussed, the key elements of Satellite Networks in the realisation of Future Internet objectives are highlighted and specific R&D directions are provided in order to achieve these objectives.
