Abstract
An approach which was derived for 2D system stability testing and associated stabilization is presented. The approach permits the testing of the stability of a given 2D system by solving two decoupled lower-dimensional discrete-time Riccati-type equations. If the two decoupled Riccati equations have positive-definite solutions, then the corresponding 2D system is stable. This considerably reduces the complexity of the numerical problems of other 2D stability tests. The idea has been used in a synthesis technique for 2D stabilization using feedback
