  • Abstract
The design of multifeed electromagnetic bandgap antennas is presented. A simple triangular lattice of dielectric rods is used to achieve good radiative performance and high decoupling between the monopole feeds. Two configurations were designed and analysed. The first configuration presents 3 monopole feeds and the radiation patterns can be rotated by 120° steps by feeding the corresponding monopole probe. The second configuration presents 6 monopole feeds and the radiation patterns can be rotated by 60° steps. Simulation results and measurements are then compared and found in very good agreement. Both configurations achieved similar performance: a fractional bandwidth greater than 30% and high directivity patterns in the H-plane with and average gain ≥9.5dBi and front-to-back-ratio ≥22dB.
