Abstract :
High power microwaves are used for electron heating and to drive a current in fusion plasmas. The Lower Hybrid (LH) frequency range is around a few GHz, while the Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ECRH) and Electron Cyclotron Current Drive (ECCD) frequency ranges are at ≈50 to 170 GHz. The fundamentals for both schemes is described.
