Abstract :
This paper presents the implementation of IEEE 1451 smart transducer communication module for small-memory embedded application. Communication module should provide message exchange mechanism between Network Capable Application Processor (NCAP) and Transducer Interface Module (TIM). Communication module performs addressing and interface data transport functions defined in IEEE 1451.2 standard, logical communication handled by module communications interface defined in IEEE 1451.0 standard and interface with other TIM global and transducer channel functions. Considering the particularity of the communication module implementation on the microcontroller based embedded platform with limited resources, the implementation of the communication sequence in the form of mutually synchronized threads of program execution, is based on the use of the real-time operating system (RTOS). As a result, communication module provides performance management of real-time systems, which improves the reliability of the system, easy expansion of smart transducer functions and low-power operation.
