Abstract :
A two dimensional Photonic Crystal Bandpass Filter (2D-PCBPF) is designed by exploiting coupling between the waveguide and circular Photonic Crystal Ring Resonator (PCRR). By adjusting the dielectric constant of the structure and the radius of the coupling rod, the output efficiency is investigated. The normalized transmission spectra of circular PCRR have been studied using Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. The Photonic Bandgap (PBG) has been calculated by Plane Wave Expansion (PWE) method. Approximately 100% output efficiency is observed over the wavelength ranges from 1510 nm to 1520 nm through this simulation. We further investigated parameters which affect the resonant wavelength and output efficiency of these proposed PCBPF. The important parameters consider for this studies are number of rods in the reflector, scatterer rods around the cavity and size of the cavity.
