Abstract
The Routing and Wavelength Assignment (RWA) problem has been extensively studied over the last decade, but only in recent years algorithms were specifically developed (or adapted) to consider transmission layer physical impairments in photonic (all-optical) networks, while providing lightpath survivability. This work discuss the last contributions in the field, and presents a new impairment-aware RWA algorithm for survivable photonic networks. As a work in progress, the new algorithm is presented with open design decisions.
