Abstract :
In OFDM systems, when the cyclic prefix (CP) is shorter than the channel order, a time domain equalizer (TEQ) is needed to partially equalize the channel to constrain its impulse response to a predetermined length. This paper derives sufficient conditions under which the time domain equalization is optimum in producing maximum throughput. A new criterion of TEQ design is proposed under the guidance of these conditions. Simulation results show that the proposed method is able to produce a high throughput performance.
