Abstract :
The paper considers the basic requirements and the desirable features for a "pointing- based" graphical interaction in the medical practice. A set of tasks that can be improved by al- lowing the physician to handle (ID, 2D, and 3D) graphics are discussed. An experimental evaluation of human-factors in graphical interactions is described: medical subjects compared a mouse and a touch screen, by earring on activities composed by sequences of point selections. Results show that a touch screen is not only an efficient and friendly "menu-based" interaction device, but it can also be used by physicians for "pointing- based" graphical interactions.
