Abstract :
Three-dimensional digital imaging and computer-assisted treatment planning and interactive surgery has revolutionized the field of stereotactic neurosurgery. Many surgical procedures that were not practical before can now be performed safely and conveniently. Our system is used for biopsy and resection of tumors, vascular malformations, cyst aspirations, third ventriculostomies, interstitial irradiation as well as functional stereotactic procedures. This paper will describe the current functional design as well as its clinical applications.
