Abstract :
This paper describes the use of a physiologically-based model of inhaled agent pharmacokinetics to estimate both the cardiac output and tissue anaesthetic tensions of a patient during anaesthesia. The method requires only noninvasive measurements of inspired and end-tidal anaesthetic concentration. The performance of the estimation scheme is illustrated with a simulation example.
