Abstract :
The sensitivity of excitation and blocking thresholds of nerve fibres within a sacral root to geometric and electric and geometrical parameters In stimulating using a cuff elctrode, have been simulated by a computer model. The model predicts that an asymmetrical trlpolar cuff can genarate unidirectional action potentials whilst blocking the large fibres bidirectionally. This shows that selective stimulation of the bladder wall may be possible without activating the urethral closure mechanism.
