Abstract :
A non Invasive sensor for measuring both the respiration and cardiac rates on small mammals is described. This sensor, designed as a belt, involves four piezoelectric films (PVDF) devoted to measuring the pressure changes at several points of the thoracic cage. This paper focuses on mechanical design as well as theoretical and practical responses of the sensors developed. An experimental result, carried out on an anaesthetised rat is also presented.
