  • Abstract
    A system was developed to determine in a quantitative and noninvasive way the mechanical state of the respiratory system in patients that need ventilator assistance. The system is based on a personal computer, a bedside unit specially designed for this project, and the Siemens servo ventilator 900 C. The system was tested on six critical care patients.
