Abstract
The purpose of this study is to test the ability of uterine electrical activity, recorded by means of abdominal electrodes (EHG), to provide reliable Information related to uterine contractions during pregnancy. The EHG signal, recorded on 8 women, provided one electrical burst (EB) related to one mechanical activity (MA) in more than 66% of the whole recorded contractions. If situations identified as detection problems of either EB or MA were excluded, their simultaneous occurrence reached 89%. Furthermore, the detected electrical bursts presented classical temporal and spectral characteristics.
