Abstract
We have developed a new image compression technique which can achieve a compression ratio (CR) as high as 82:1 without significant degradation. The principal component analysis (PCA) is performed on the time-series dynamic radionuclide images. A limited number of principal component (PC) images are extracted and compressed further by the JPEG algorithm. This technique is illustrated on a series of gated blood pool study images.
