  • Abstract
In search of mechanical biocompatibility of artificial kidney systems, the periferal dialysis needle appears to be the weak part. This article points out some critical spots in needle design as well as the need for smoother pumping devices. Improvement of these will lead to less trauma of blood- cells by shear.
