Abstract
A query was posed in the course of a scientific discussion to determine analytically the optimal electrode placement for effective stimulation of the cochlea during extra- cochlear prosthesis. A solution to this question has been arrived at by study of electrical field distribution in the region between the stimulating and return electrodes. Trials have been conducted for experimental verification of the analytical results.
