Abstract :
A method to detect and calculate the decreased uptake area in myocardial thallium-201 Single Photon Computed Tomography (SPECT) is presented. The method is based on the fitting of the morphological skeleton of the left ventricle to a truncated bullet. In case of acute ischemia or infarction, abnormal uptake of the radiotracer is detected as holes on the skeleton. Holes area is located and calculated using the bullet model. Surface is expressed in percent of the total left ventricular surface.
