Abstract
A theoretical approach based on modElisation and bidimensionnal Fourier transform is presented for the resolution of the sampling problem in scalp EEG. A single dipole would require up to 200 electrodes for a proper sampling of a single source. For a 1cm2 dipole layer this value decreases to 128. A pratical mapping system and experimental data indicates, however, that a number between 32 and 72 would be acceptable.
