Abstract :
A miniature fiber-optic temperature sensor that can measure high temperature in a small volume is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The sensor head is fabricated by splicing a small segment of photonic crystal fiber to the single mode fiber, forming a fiber Fabry-Perot interferometer. A high-speed signal processing method is adopted to measure the temperature by detecting the intensity of the reflected light. A high temperature of up to 500 °C can be measured using the proposed technique.
