Abstract :
This work presents a design of microstrip Y-junction microwave circulator based on ferrite films. In this film circulator, a hole on the backside of the substrate is designed to increase the ratio of the ferrite film thickness to the overall thickness. The designed film circulator is fabricated using barium ferrite films with thickness of 8 μm. The experimental results show that a non-reciprocal effect of 17 dB occurs at about 26 GHz. The fabricated self-biased film circulator exhibits an isolation of 44 dB and an insertion loss of 27 dB at about 26 dB. The large insertion losses are thought to be originated from impedance mismatch and the magnetic losses.
