Abstract
The paper is concerned with a description of recent advances in surface wave theory regarding the asymptotic model for the Rayleigh wave. The model is oriented for extraction of the dynamic response arising from the contribution of the Rayleigh pole. Some results of generalisations of the model for anisotropic media, Stoneley waves and the three-dimensional case are discussed in the paper along with examples of application of the model to the moving load problems.
