Abstract
A 450 MHz miniaturised split ring antenna is integrated with a small artificial magnetic conductor to form a very compact, conformal platform tolerant antenna. Both the antenna and the AMC utilise loading by discrete, lumped circuit elements to significantly reduce the size of the overall radiating structure. Tunablility of the structure is achievable by simply varying the loaded lumped capacitors. The overall thickness of the structure is 15.2mm and the antenna maximum dimension is 78mm which corresponds to λ/9 at 450 MHz.
