Abstract
In this paper, the cumulative distributions of attenuation for 4 sites in Brazil are fitted with a mixture of 2 weibull distributions, in an attempt to account for the joint contributions of stratiform and convective rainfall regimes on the signal attenuation suffered by slant path links, specially those operating in tropical climates subjected to heavy rainfall throughout the year. Precise information about the empirical distributions of attenuation is of paramount importance in the design of artificial events generators. These tools can be used in the simulation of slant path systems in cases for which it is not viable to perform long term measurement campaigns at the installation sites. In this paper, a mixture of two Weibull distributions is fitted to the cumulative distributions of attenuation and rainfall rate for 4 sites in Brazil. The results are presented and discussed.
