  • Abstract
    A new structure for improving the efficiency of antennas in the terahertz band is presented. The structure aims for reducing the energy distribution on a high permittivity material by etching a dielectric horn. The structure allows ultra wideband operation when a broadband antenna is used for excitation. The fundamental mode that propagates in the structure is the HE11 mode, which results of a combination of the TE1 and the TM1, the first two modes that propagate in the structure. Measurements for a manufactured substrate horn are presented for the low frequency band, showing the improvements in the performance for the overall system in terms of received power.
