Abstract
This paper focuses on modeling diffraction phenomenon and its influence on electromagnetic wave predictions in subterranean galleries. A new approach to modeling diffraction is briefly mentioned along with basic parameters used for modeling. In order to show the influence of diffraction phenomena on simulation results, two typical subterranean galleries (a single bending corridor and a more complex system of corridors) are simulated under different conditions - with and without considering diffraction in each. Significant differences are described and commented upon. Results are processed on a statistical basis and recommendations based on the results are made.
